VP Appointed to head up Apollo Fire Detectors America
Apollo Fire Detectors Limited has announced that Bill
Abraham, formerly President of fire controls company Gamewell, is
heading up its new US operation - Apollo Fire Detectors
America.
Bill officially joined Apollo at the end of March 2005. His main
objective is to develop the US market for Apollo products. He is
tasked with improving name recognition and acceptance for Apollo
and compatible products within the engineering and specifying
community. He will also be responsible for identifying and
targeting possible OEM sources and developing a supplier
network.
Bill has worked closely with Apollo for many years, following
his purchase of the Gamewell Company from Cerberus Technologies
some fifteen years ago. He oversaw the revitalization of Gamewell
as a leading provider of advanced fire controls, largely based on
the 600 Series range of Apollo-compatible control panels. Among the
company's many achievements was the development of the
'self-programming' panel. At a time when lengthy programming
routines were the norm for analogue addressable control panels,
Gamewell introduced their 'SmartStart' feature, which enabled the
panel to be fully operational in less than one minute.
Under Bill's leadership, Gamewell grew by at least 15% per year
to become the largest independent provider of Apollo-based
equipment in the Americas. This success made Gamewell a highly
desirable acquisition and it was purchased by Honeywell in 2003.
Bill Abraham stayed on for two years to oversee the transition.
Commenting on his appointment to Apollo Fire Detectors America,
Michelle Agius, Apollo's Sales and Marketing Director, said: "We
are delighted to have Bill on board. We have worked closely with
him over many years and he has an excellent understanding of Apollo
products. This expertise, coupled with the fact that he is a
well-known figure already in the US fire industry, will enable Bill
to enhance Apollo's profile in the Americas. We look forward to a
long and prosperous relationship with our US operation."
