Optical Smoke Detector
A new sensor design enables the Orbis optical smoke detector to respond to a wide spectrum of fires without compromising reliability. The detector is calibrated to make it highly reliable but much less likely to generate false alarms. It uses algorithms to decide when is should change to the alarm state. Orbis optical detectors sample the atmosphere every four seconds and the measurements are processed by microprocessor. The processing power is used as part of the design to eliminate unwanted alarms.

Multisensor Smoke Detector
The Orbis multisensor uses the new optical technology (see above) in conjunction with a heat sensor to further extend its capabilities as a smoke detector. It should be noted that the Orbis multisensor is designed as a smoke detector and cannot be switched from smoke to heat detection.

Heat Detectors
There are six heat detectors in the Orbis range. The detectors are classified according to EN54-5 as rate-of-rise or static and are designated 'R' or 'S' accordingly. Static heat detectors will respond only when the alarm threshold is reached. Rate-of-rise detectors have this fixed upper limit, but also measure the rate of increase in temperature.

TimeSaver Diode Base
The TimeSaver Diode Base has the same design as the standard TimeSaver Base® with the addition of a diode. It is used in systems which house active EOL monitoring for head removal.

TimeSaver Relay Base
The TimeSaver Relay Base incorporates a single-pole voltage-free change-over for switching external equipment. When the detector changes to the alarm state, the relay is energised, causing the contact to change state. The contact will remain in this condition until the detector is reset.

Sav-Wire Base
The Sav-Wire Base is designed to allow Orbis detectors to be used in 'Sav-Wire' detection and alarm systems.

TimeSaver Deep Base
The TimeSaver Deep Base is a mounting base for Orbis products which has an increased depth which allows for cables to be inserted into the side of the product.

Orbis Heater Base
The Orbis Heater Base has been designed to be used in cold climates where environmental conditions could result in either icing or condensation affecting the operation of detectors. It is recommended that the heater base be used in conjunction with either a Waterproof Base Cover or Deckhead Mounting Box to minimise water ingress.
