Design Department
The Design Department is responsible for all mechanical designs and PCB layouts. The designers use the latest CAD systems to produce exciting and functional designs for detectors and interface products.
Using 3D modelling software and 'state of the art' solid object printers, the department can turn concepts into reality in a matter of days, supply fully working prototypes for demonstrations to customers and for exhibitions.

Polymer resin prototype models from the solid object printer can be used for technical evaluation to assess fit, form, and function of a design eg smoke entry characteristics of smoke detectors, or 'right first time' injection mould tools, product styling.

Design innovations which have lead to patents being granted world-wide have included the XPERT card address mechanism used on Discovery and XP95 ranges, the E-Z fit mounting base range specifically designed for the American market, new optical sensing methodology and installer friendly base terminations as used on the Orbis range of products.

Printed circuit design using CAD software is also a function of the team, specifically designed for high volume manufacture. Prototype PCB designs are produced in-house on a CNC routing machine to reduce development times in the Product Development lifecycle by allowing full functional testing and preliminary EMC and Environmental testing at a very early stage in the product development.
The Design department also maintain and refine the extensive existing product range of over eight hundred products.
