Product Development

The Department is responsible for the design of the sensors, sensor processing and communications protocols used in the Apollo products.

The Department takes the lead responsibility in defining the overall functionality of Apollo products. It works closely with Sales and Marketing to ensure that new products meet the customer needs. It must also ensure that the designs have the required level of performance to comply with Apollo's own rigorous expectations and with the relevant national and international standards.

A major objective is to produce robust designs that have the required functionality and are optimised for high volume manufacture. The Department makes extensive use of simulation tools and prototyping facilities to design-in quality and reduce development time.

The team also provides technical assistance to other departments to ensure that detailed design knowledge is available to the rest of the company. An example of this is the Technical Sales Department, where the engineers work together to support panel manufacturers and customers.
