West Ham United Football Club, Upton Park, London, UK

Site Details:
The new Dr Marten’s West Stand at West Ham United’s Upton Park forms part of a phased development that provides the club with modern retail and leisure facilities as well as enhanced seating capacity. The stand itself provides capacity for 15,800 spectators on match days and its concourses are equipped with food and drink kiosks and areas for viewing televised highlights. The complex also includes a shop, a museum and a 72-bedroom hotel and restaurant area, together with club and changing facilities.

Technical Details:
A combination of 1,200 Apollo XP95 and Discovery detectors were used to fulfil the detection requirements. The ability to select products from different Apollo ranges and combine them in a single system is possible because Apollo devices use an open, digital protocol that is both backwards and forwards compatible.

Apollo XP95 devices were installed in general public areas, but the multi-functioned rooms are equipped with Discovery multisensors. These detectors can cope with a wide variety of environmental parameters while minimising the likelihood of nuisance alarms.

The fire protection system also includes 100 manual call points and around 200 XP95 interfaces which link the fire detection sequences with the public address/voice evacuation system.
