XPERT Card Addressing

The XPERT card is a unique, patented addressing method which provides simple, user friendly and accurate identification of a detector's location.

Address information is held in the base, not the detector head. This means the address remains the same regardless of how many times a detector head is replaced (for example, for servicing or maintenance) or when additional detectors are added. It also means different types of detecting heads can be swapped to meet changes in building use without the need for any reprogramming.

The XPERT card is a plastic, coded card containing seven 'pips'.

The address is set by simply removing the 'pips' with a screwdriver according to a chart supplied with the bases or available here as PDF (178kB). For more information on addressing the XPERT card, visit our Questions page.

The coded card is then inserted into the side of the base where it locks into position. When the detector head is rotated into the base, the remaining 'pips' on the card operate the address buttons on the base of the detector and the address is read by the detector electronics.

The XPERT card therefore simplifies and speeds up installation and commissioning.

This method of addressing is used with the XP95, Discovery and XPlorer ranges.
