Ionisation Smoke Detector

Air in the dual sensing chambers is irradiated to produce ions that travel to the positive and negative electrodes, creating a current flow. As smoke enters the outer chamber, the flow drops and the voltage increases. The detector will then enter the alarm state and the indicator LED lights up.

Optical Smoke Detector

The optical smoke detector uses an internal pulsing LED and a photo-diode at an obtuse angle. In the event of smoke entering the chamber, the light pulse from the LED will be scattered and registered by the photo-diode. The detector will then enter the alarm state and the indicator LED lights up.

Heat Detector

The heat detector operates by using a matched pair of thermistors to sense heat. One thermistor is exposed to the ambient temperature, the other is sealed. In normal conditions, the two thermistors register similar temperatures, but, on the development of a fire, the temperature recorded by the exposed thermistor will increase rapidly, resulting in an imbalance of the thermistors and causing the detector to change to the alarm state.

Series 65 Standard Base

The Series 65 Standard Base has been designed to enable detectors to be fitted without the need of force - particularly useful when fitting to suspended ceilings.

Series 65 Diode Base

The Series 65 Diode Base is designed for use with conventional systems that have manual call points and detector bases on the same circuit. The base is fitted with a schottky diode on the "L1 IN" and "L1 OUT" wiring terminals.

The Series 65 Sav-Wire Base is designed to allow Series 65 detectors to be used in 'Sav-Wire' detection and alarm systems.

Series 65 Standard Relay Base

The Series 65 Standard Relay Base provides one set of volt-free changeover (from C) contacts that change state when the detector signals an alarm.

The Series 65 Auxiliary Relay Base provides two sets of volt-free changeover contacts to facilitate the switching of a remote LED or other auxiliary device.

The Series 65 12V Relay Base is designed for use in both fire and security systems. For fire systems a jumper on the PCB is fitted to a 'latching' position. For security systems the jumper is moved to another position so that the base is non-latching.
