Apollo Fire Detectors has been recognised as a company that have taken proactive steps to help continuously improve diversity and culture within the fire industry.
In September 2025 we had the honour of winning the Inclusive Company Award at the Women in Fire Safety Awards. This event was more than an awards ceremony; it was a true celebration of Women in Fire. The evening cultivated a feeling of empowerment, and it was truly inspiring to be witness to the outstanding achievements of all the winners.
Winning this award would not have been possible without our incredible HR team and the market-leading initiatives they’ve introduced to support our people. These initiatives include enhanced parental leave and flexible working options such as compressed weeks, 9-day fortnights, flexi-time, hybrid working, and tailored maternity return plans. We’re committed to creating a workplace that works for everyone.
In recent years, we’ve proudly increased our ethnic diversity, and we continue to champion gender balance in engineering by engaging young women in STEM. Our recent partnership with STEMunity brings STEM to life for school-age children through fun, hands-on activities. We also lead the way with our progressive Menopause Initiative. We have partnered with Clinic51, providing a private medical package to ensure that our female staff get the professional expert advice and medical support. And as of September, we’re proud to have a female-led Director Team reflecting our ongoing commitment to inclusive leadership.
At Apollo, we champion a culture where everyone feels free to be their authentic self—valued, respected, and empowered to thrive.
Wendy Osborne, Director of Talent and Culture added, “Winning this year’s Inclusive Company Award at the Women in Fire and Safety awards is an incredible honour and a proud moment for all of us at Apollo. For many years, we’ve been committed to creating an environment where every colleague feels empowered to bring their authentic self to work because we know that when people can truly be themselves, they perform at their best and thrive.
Our focus is also on attracting and developing diverse talent, recognising the immense value that different perspectives bring. Diversity has never been just a metric for us; it’s a driver of innovation, better decision-making, and stronger business outcomes. The richness of ideas and experiences across our teams is what makes Apollo stronger.
This achievement is also a testament to the tenacity and passion of Apollo’s HR team, whose initiatives, drive, and unwavering commitment to championing Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion have played an instrumental part in shaping our culture. From pioneering wellbeing programmes to embedding inclusive practices, their work has made a real difference.
Above all, I’m proud to work for a company that embraces initiatives that make Apollo such a great place to work—a place where every individual has the opportunity to make an impact and feel they truly belong.”
This award is not just a recognition of our progress—it’s a powerful reminder of what’s possible when inclusion is at the heart of everything we do.
